Tryouts for 2012-13

PeeWee and Bantam Team Selection

1) Players will be contacted by their coach on Saturday before 9pm.

2) You have until Friday, May 18 to pay $250 to the City of Shaker Heights to secure your spot on your team. The remaining balance will be due at the start of the season in mid-August. This can be dropped off with Caleb Wyse.

3) The $105 Shaker Youth Hockey Association fee (one per family) can be paid at the same time, but is not due until the start of the season in mid-August.

$105 payable to Shaker Youth Hockey Association (SYHA)

4) APPEALS PROCESS

Appeals will be handled by the SYH Coordinator. All appeals must follow 24 hours after the team selection. All appeals must be first written and emailed or mailed to the SYH Coordinator following the 24 hours. Any appeal before the 24 hours after team selection will result in that appeal being automatically denied. Parents must then set an appointment to meet with the SYH Coordinator. Decisions on appeals will not be made until the next SYHA Board meeting. Parents who allow their child to tryout for other teams during SYHA tryouts or during their appeal process will have their appeal immediately denied. SYH Coordinator has the final say on all decisions.

5) FINAL THOUGHTS

There has been much hard work by many folks putting these tryouts together. We will conduct the best and fairest tryouts, evaluations and placements we can. We need you to remember, however, no process is perfect. If you have any thoughts or opinions on the process, we encourage you to share them with the SYH Coordinator now rather than letting them fester. Also note; our amazing volunteers are what keep SYHA alive and well, but please understand under no circumstances will the child of a volunteer, board member or coach receive preferential placement because of their parent's participation.

 Raiders Varsity Hockey 

Go Raiders! The Shaker Heights High School Hockey team is getting ready to kick off its 2011-2012 season in the GSHSHL Red Division. Come cheer the Raiders on as they begin their league season on Friday night Dec 2nd against Lake Catholic at 9 PM.

Note to the SYHA Community

: It is with a a sad heart that we inform you that Coach Stefan Fischer passed away in summer 2011.  Coach Fischer was instrumental in the development of many Shaker youth hockey players.  He also helped all coaches with organization and practice planning.  Stefan started coaching for SYHA in the Fall of 2003.  Later in his coaching, Stefan dedicated himself to developing our mites.   Stefan will be deeply missed and continuously remembered.    Stefan's son Ramon will begin studies in Civil Engineering at the University of Cincinnati this fall, and his son Urs will begin his higher education after high school graduation in 2013. To ease the cost of tuition and other financial burdens on Stefan's immediate family, donations can be made to the Stefan Fischer Benevolent Fund at any Key Bank or via an electronic fund*.
